I'm daydreaming on a slow day at work....

Everytime a curb gets moved, a roundabout gets reshaped or some traffic light obtain a filter lane, I see a number of 'New Road Layout Ahead' sign spring up all over the place warning the numbties they might have to adjust their steering.

Now, I'm all for these signs, the more help some of these people get, the better this world might be. Anyway, when a speed limit is, are any signs put up saying 'Warning - New Speed Limit'? No.

The reason that I thought of this today is that yesterday I was driving along a road that I've been using for the past 9 years, it goes from a 30 to a 40. Anyway, sometime last week all the 40 signs were taken down and now the whole road is a 30. If this speed limit was changed to make the road safer, surely it's best to inform the driver of changes and put up some signage. Otherwise people who aren't paying attention probably will never realise it... oh hold, there's a speed camera on that road, now I see why the council don't want the drivers to know.

On the A4155 coming out of Reading/Caversham they dropped the limit from 40 to 30 - nice little yellow signs warning of this change.

Oh, and a man with a radar gun.

Silly thing is this road is wide enough for 3 lanes, houses only on one side, extremely wide pavement shared by cyclepath. You'd have to be a dipstick to get run over here.

Get 'em off the road PDQ! Mind you, the advice is, if you don't know the speed limit drive at 30mph! - Streaky
