hi all.

Has anyone got a loan recentley?

Is it actually still possible to get a loan? i've just got a new, much better job and i've recentley discovered my battered old car is not gonna get through the mot. So, loan for new car time...

Can normal young lads, without finanical ties, living with parents still get loans? I dont wanna go hassling the banks until its actually time to get a loan in a month or so.

cheers

Yes smaller loans still availible as they ever were. My sister recently applied for some and nearly all of them were approved. They wanted 17.9% apr on £3000 over 5 years though...

The sub prime market has seen a massive increase in personal loan applicants. Especially since the secured lenders have all stopped lending.

If you have a good credit rating then you should be able to get 11-15% apr. If its poor expect to pay 29-60% (and sometimes more). Most high st lenders charge slightly lower rates for amounts between £7500 - £15,000.

Ouch, those rates are horrible. I could pay off my loan having sold the TVR, but as it's at 6.9% I'm tempted to leave it alone.

There are plenty of loans and mortgages available. The reason people think there aren't is because their expectations have become realigned with the nonsensical levels of lending that have become the norm over the last few years. Lenders have since reverted about half-way back to common-sense landing levels. I'm still being (theoretically) offered four times my salary - just need to find a home that I can afford when only borrowing four times my salary rage

I got a loan through Barclays who my current account is with at 7.9%, this was after applying at Black Horse and being offered 12.9, then a few days later that changed to 13.9...

I'll sell you a 3 bed house with drive. Still with 7 years NHBC "warrenty". On a quiet cul-de-sac. Walking distance to the station/town center. £76,000. Mind you you do have to pay rent on the other 1/2.

My daughter almost got one a couple of weeks ago, thank god she needed a guarantor, she asked me to sign it, and I noticed the interest rate was a whopping 53%. She wasn't impressed when I fell about laughing and refused to sign.........

Alliance & leicester are doing 8-9% so about £245 per month over 4 years but that might be higher dependent on your credit rating. Always best to go to your own bank 1st to see what rates they have.

I got a loan from Zopa earlier this year. Good rates (at the time - May ish I think it was) and no early repayment charges either which was what I wanted.

You've just made me realise that the "have a loan" junk mail has stopped in the last few weeks.

Just took out £15k from Alliance and Leicester last week for 'home improvements'.

Couldn't be further from the truth as I only took the loan to create some credit history as other than the mortgage I dont have any. So in three months time it goes back to them again and apparently I have ticked all the right boxes - how stupid it that? irked

Haven't had a loan for years. Just loaned my daughter £8,500 (to pay off her overdraft and buy a car she needs for her job)to be repaid at £400/month and 0% interest. Do you think she got a good deal? I may only take 21 payments. God, I must love her.
