530d ´01 125kmiles worth 5600pounds , is its life near over

Hi, I´m looking for a 530d touring. I saw an August 2001 with leather ,17´wheels,satnav,new tyres and history,its Italian but I want lhd. Putting aside the lhd is it worth 5600pounds, AND MORE IMPORTANTLY IS THE MOTOR DONE AT THIS MILAGE. Yes its high milage ,well in my opinion but what can expect in problems, maintenence and remaining life of the engine. I´m not sure how important the mlage element is , any BMW experts who could comment.

Of course its life isnt near over. It'll continue almost indefinately until such time as you decide its no longer worth fixing the parts which break.

Don't think 125k is high mileage. As other poster says it'll go as long as it's fixed for but I wouldn't imagine lots of stuff to be breaking at this mileage. Those 530ds could have turbo problems which are expensive. Be sure it's sound if it sounds too cheap to be true.

It sounds expensive to be honest but then I don't know the Italian used car market.

I would cost you less than that here for sure.

125k? Its just run itself in.

Mines on its way to 150k (a 2.8 petrol) and its still pulling as strong as an ox.

As mentioned above, however, you'll have to start replacing other things like the suspension, braking parts etc, as these are the things that take a battering over those miles.

Anyone know if there are differences between 99 and 2000 & 2001 models to watch out for.I know the bhp went up to 193bhp from 184, but not sure what else. Also can anyone say if the speedo´s on these are difficult to tamper with as 2 cars I´m looking at have no history and am a bit worried they could be clocked. If its difficult maybe they haven´t been .Bit of take a chance here .

Mine's done 117k now... '02 530d Sport... I have to say it drives flawlessly but I have kept it well maintained since 40k when I bought it, and it's cost me some. New turbo at about 75k but the old one didn't let go, I was just playing it very safe. If I sold it I wouldn't expect to get much more than 6k for it. In my mind it's worth more to me than that, will probably give me another 50-60k on the motorway without any major problems and in a relatively comfortable, quiet and refined cabin. So yeah I'd say it's a lot of good car for the money, just get one that's clearly been well maintained.
