Hi guys, just fitted new gaz golds on my car. Had a terrible problem with bottoming out before (rear shocks where leaking).Read the posts regarding suspension settings but it would appear its a very personal thing, so set click thingy to middle and set car height to what looked ok. After saturdays Oban hoon ( hi brakedust 300 and nicholas blair )these two cerbs sitting quite low in comparison, i was wondering what the NORMAL running height is ?
Mine a 4.5, front sits 615mm to centre of arch on 18" spiders with toyo 35's, rear sits at 655mm to same point with same tyres, any info greatly appreciated. Cheers

For starters, ignore any height info from the arches... fibreglass cars are never consistant.

Measure from the chassis to the ground instead, this should be about 130mm if memory serves me correctly?

I've got GAZ golds on mine too, obviously haven't been driven on yet though. I've set mine to just having the springs slightly loose. Its sitting about 160mm to the outrigger corner behind the front wheel. I'm hoping it will drop about another 20mm as it settles then I can raise it slightly to what I want.

I'll be interested to see how yours settles.

The car needs to sit about 10mm higher at the back. the figures 125mm from the front of the outriggers, and 135mm at the rear seem to stick in my mind - I'm sure someone will correct me if these are wrong.

Hi

mine 115mm to front outrigger and 135mm to rear ourigger. It was lower at the rear (115mm) but it was raised to improve handling (because of the angle of the shock)

LOL - I've got mine at 140mm front and 150mm rear, but then I do often have three up in the car

I fitted a pair of billies a month ago on the rear,i fitted them with the highest ring selected, as i was told it was the factory preset, its pumped the rear up about 40mm on the previous height, need to lower it back down, but not had the time. It made the steering heavy, the rear end swings out too easy, wheel spins on straight dry roads and worse of all looks poo!.

Just under 3 fingers gap between top of tyre and wheel arch. I like mine to be accurate.

I checked others at a club meeting to confirm this measurement.

My fingers were manufactured in imperial but have since been converted to metric.

I'm not familiar with that one, but I do know the Marianne Faithfull/Mick Jagger/Mars Bar story!
