When you go to put gas in the Esprit, and you release the gas flaps, do both open, or do you have the option of which side to open?

Also, what do you suppose an SE wing on a S4, or S4s, or V8 look like?

Push the flap release switch (same button type as a window switch) to the left to release the left side, to the right to release the right side.

Oh nice, because I once knew this guy who owned an S4 and a V8, we would get together and BS Lotus and have a few drinks. He told me they both open and you have to close the other one. I thought that was kind of strange, and I always wondered if that were true. Guess not. Just goes to show how much this guy knew. Doesnt matter, he was the type of owner who would be lucky to use a full tankn of gas in a month. Needless to say, he had bad reliability issues and sold them both, bought a 911 TT instead.

'bought a 911 TT instead.'

No accounting for taste. Not sure how he could make the mistake with the flaps unless it was faulty.

Faulty, Lotus, Ahh Never..

What probably happened is that the window switch went out at one point (rare, huh?) and a PO switched the gas flap switch for the defective window switch then wired both flaps to the one working side.

98 and later have just the one flap. It's a momentary push button. In theory . I usually have to press it at least twice before it swings open...
