Hello

Are there any decent roads near Bristol, south wales, Somerset etc suited to a 205 Mi16?

Seen videos of EVO triangle etc and It looks fast but I'm looking for something more twisty/ technical.

Thanks

The Evo triangle isn't THAT fast. The western 'leg' is the most technical and should show your 205 in a very good light. The middle section of the eastern 'leg' is chiefly about handling, poise and balance, too. Some bumpy, off-camber, tightening corners see to that!

However, there are more enjoyable Welsh roads than the Evo triangle IMO. There are a great selection of B-roads in the area to the south which are even more rewarding.

Power on many of these roads is of secondary importance, anyway. Myself and a few PH'ers had a few days hooning in Wales back in June. My car, a 165bhp Elise, was the least powerful in the assembly. I had no difficulty in staying with a 320bhp Porsche 996, who was amongst the group, 99% of the time. Only on straight, lengthy uphill sections did his extra power make its presence felt.

Have fun. smile

Great thanks for that. Myself and 2 bikers planning to do Chepstow- Monmouth then Brecon (black mountains) stay over night somewhere then onto Evo triangle etc this weekend.

Can you recommend anywhere decent to stay, camping or B&B, somewhere with a few pubs maybe for the Sat night?

Also, do you take any tools etc with you? Probably not applicable to the Porsche crew but a 1980's french car!....

I'd get a map and look for some whites to be honest, that should put your 205 in it's perfect element.

Not a car suited to wide fast open roads, tight twisty rough back lanes are where it will really excel smile

If you want to travel a bit further afield to Dorset the coast road from Bridport to Weymouth is pretty good!

Got back from a weekend's amazing driving.

First really good road heading North was the B4560 Beaufort- Llangynider. Good surface over the Becons, Lots of twists, open hairpins etc.

B4358 Beulah- Newbridge-on-Wye. This road is amazing. Probably the best of the whole weekend. About 8 miles of open twisting mountain road.

The Elan Valley which is also very good. Goes on for miles in beautiful scenery.

The Aberwrstwyth mountain road after the Elan Valley is also very good.

Hardly any traffic just a few bikes. Saw the Scooby posse on Sunday in the Elan valley.
