Hi all. Having recently "re-discovered" golf, I've had to make the heart breaking decision to sell the Monaro and get something more "practical". I'm contemplating a Beemer (M5 or similar). Basically, 4 doors, big boot and plenty of go from the loud pedal. Anyone out there got any suggestions? Also, what do you think a 55plate black 23500 mile CV8 is worth these days? Thanks in anticipation..........Dave

Why don't you get an earlier 04 CV8 or VXR? They've got big boots!

What size is the boot? My one reservation is not being able to transport my clubs and trolley. I must be getting SOOOOOOOOO old!!! Got married 9 weeks ago. The wife came with an "instant" son! Thought I'd gotten over the children thing years ago! Still, he's 10 so not too long to go before he's flown the nest (wishful thinking!!!!!)

In the 2004 model cars the boot extends forwards all the way to the rear of the back seats; in later cars there is a fuel tank in the way and so the boot is very much smaller.

What you need to ask yourself Dave is why you had to "re-discover" Golf.

Indeed why not simply undiscover golf and save yourself a lot of time and money?

I've had to retire from racing.....getting too old to chase the young lads around tracks now! So, golf or old mens marbles? I used to play 3/4 times a week off 11 so golf was an easy choice. Incidently, do the pre 04 models still drive as well as the later ones?

I've never driven a later monaro but I did think my steering had far too many turns lock to lock and felt dead. I have had the quick rack steering from monkfish fitted and its a totally different car on the twisty bits now.

I've got to say that the VXR8 should be ideal. Ironically I've just had to ditch golf in favour of more track time at the strip. I gave up racing over ten years ago and missed the rush. Golf is supposed to keep you fit, but since going to the strip instead of playing golf I seem to have lost all the aches and pains that seem to come with getting older!!! Must be the endorphins.

BMW - Been there done that, and don't want to be steroetyped anymore.

Yep go and look into a vxr8 boot, you cant see the end. Ill quote the 496 Litre capacity now, thats without including the fold down centre section that allows items such as full length twin 3" difilippo exhausts to fit in end to end.

Id estimate 6 sets of golf clubs easy as well as 1000 spare balls. Plus 3 adults in the back with shed loads of leg room.

its a 5.7 vxr. It fits my family in, in comfort and the boot is big enough to swallow a few sets of clubs in if required.

04 CV8 Boot would definately take 2 sets of clubs and electric trolley etc in comfort. But my new 5 serise tourer does it better not as loud or as much fun getting to the course. If you want to buy a set of Pings let me know
