If a post is deleted by the moderators then I assume they'll also remove any responses relating to it. I've seen a thread go from ten posts (nine of them crap) to one.

Particularly if it's a high quality thread on P&P.

Ah no wait ... the 2 don't go together.

Is there any way we could get an email when a message of ours is deleted. An automatic thingy would be fine, just cut down the confusion and threads like this.

The notifications would actually serve as a good 'poke' when things get a little close to the edge. We know HM want to clean up the site, but we don't have that clear an idea of the proper level is. Is it the sanitised prose of 'Autocar' of the more adult nature of 'CAR', which I think was the first magazine to allow fuck in copy.

Put another way is it 'let adults be adults and step in when they act like children' or should it be totally family friendly as it were. I for one vote for the former.

That being said, I made a perfectly sensible post in the P&P the other day on the effect of the lenders insolvency on a personal loan. Disappeared without a trace. No idea why.

The mods have a 'prune thread' button which deletes an offensive post and all the posts after it.

It is only used when the entire thread after the offensive post also needs removing but it is possible that, if you were in the process of posting a sensible comment at exactly the same time as a mod was removing a load of junk, your comment would get caught up in the pruning. This should be a very rare occurrence though.
