How do you know a Tam is a Tam

OK - Where is the VIN number on a Tam, come to think about it how do you ever know the Tamora you've got it the one you think it is?

Chassis number is stamped into the crossmember visible on top of the rad.

Not sure where the engine number is.

You can always ask the local plod to have a look if you're buying - just ring the station and they'll tell you where to take it.

No really, they will.

Alternatively a dealer may be able to look up numbers but I don't think there's much point in ringing the factory like they used to do.

It will give you all the usual car check stuff inc the engine number & VIN numbers which can be x-referenced against the plates in the engine bay. The 5V document will give you the number of keepers & the date of last change of ownership and the VIN. Engine/VIN/Chassis numbers are also recorded in the owners hand book and usually on the service invoices (mine was from (Castle) Old MOT certificates have some of the details too

Given the ease with which info can be checked against documented data that would/should be supplied with the car it would be hard togo wrong I guess?
