Just got this lens in preperation for some low light indoor stuff I'll be doing in a weeks time.

Have to say its as nice to use as the 50 1.8 if a little more costly!

Some quick test shots with it tonight

Pleased so far, tomorrows the big test as its the practice shoot in the church so lets hope it pays for itself!

Should be sharper than the 50/1.8 wide open?

I find my 50 is soft until f2.2. Usable but I'll avoid if I can.

Wouldnt mind a look at the sigma 50f1.4

it depends on what you class as soft though. I personally am not affraid of softness as I think in the digital age we get too hung up on ultra sharpness. What was once sharp in film is soft in digital, guess its the application you are using the shot for though.

85mm f1.8 has a really good reputation, defiantly on my to-buy list smile (or the 100mm f2)

Most people seem to find it sharper wide open than the 50mm f1.4 - my 50 shows a fair bit of bloom < f1.6

Really like the first shot smile

Cheers.

This is on my list to buy, although as Rob says I would really like to take a look at the new sigma 50mm 1.4,
