Family Law / Parental Responsibility
Discussion
Before I go and hassle a solicitor, I thought I'd take the long shot of asking on here first.
Basically the situation went:
1) Meet a girl with a small child
2) Girl has complicated relationship with previous partner
3) Previous partner wants to see child, court deny that and at the same time I get PR for the child
4) Girl runs off with guy from work
5) I move to the other end of the country and over time stop seeing child
6) Girl gets married and mentions her husband adopting child
7) We agree me having PR nolonger makes sense
7) Previous partner starts hassling girl and she decides that it's too complicated to start thinking about changing PR now.
So, the question is, what do I do? Ideally, I'd like to uninvolve myself from the situation. There's a lot more to story than meets the eye and given the sequence of events it doesn't seem like me having PR is ever going to do the child, her or myself any good whatsoever.
However, I'm not sure whether granting PR is irreversible and if it's not, what's involved in doing so, and does she hold all the cards?
