Excellent program all round I thought.
Nice to see one of our cross border friends being so dam reasonable (if somewhat pleading about the relative size of fine) - rather debunks the "give me everything else I'll set light to your smelly building" popular press view of our visitors. I even felt like ringing up the station to ask if I could pay for the poor chaps fine myself! (Hope the camera crew bunged him the money....)
"Sirs - you are a credit to yourself, the force and the fair and firm approach."

and the program comments that there are not enough police officers.
Yeah, because some people are too damm stupid to make there own way home, then require TWO police cars to drive them home

S Yorks Police came out of that with a lot of credit... I'm impressed. One of the first points of the programme: 150 traffic officers, now cut to 110 (or thereabouts).
Guys talked a lot of sense including patrolling housing estates in pursuit of "criminals using cars as part of their lifestyles".
BiB in general: good work if this is the attitude you run with. More of this, fewer tax cameras (unless outside schools, hospitals etc) and the motoring public will alter their view rapidly, imho.

The first time Ive seen the programme that balanced; no greenslime "speed kills" mantra,
policemen doing a great job keeping scum off the road,
hammering people with telefonitis,
helping some people who were obviously brain dead (baby on a dual carriageway FFS!),
keeping dangerous cars off the road,
not letting the obvious "playing the racial card" get to them,
All I can say is it restores my faith in BiBs, we just need to get rid of all the Gatsos now and restore more trafficcops to their vehicles....... a good talking to does more than any "electronic highwayman"

there was an underliying complaint by the force of the reduction in the number of staff (down 40) which was a political stab at the government for cutting funding, and replacing cops with cameras.
..and good on them, the media is a great force for getting things noticed.
but explain this, why did the guy who had no insurance get away on the blag "I only bought the car an hour ago" when the boot was full of gear including amps, speakers and personal gear.. did he take it all with him to the sale???
either nicked it all, or was clearly talking crap about just buying the car.

I hope the 2 silly bints with the pram got a bill for police time the following morning.
And I'm not at all sure what happened with the fatal RTA they showed.
But yes, the officers concerned came across with a lot of credit. The bloke getting attacked by the dog made me snigger. He really kind of derserved it.

Thought it was fairly good and accurate apart from the number of Trafpols available.
I felt that this didnt give a true and accurate record of Trafpols responding to 'minor' incidents because of the presence of the cameras etc.
I know that when we patrol there arent many of us but when theres a film crew about then people are taken off other duties to bolster the numbers and shadow the moving film set.........sad but true and thats my personal opinion.

Did happen to notice that the Plod that pulled the Escort warned the adult in the back that the child was not wearing a seatbelt correctly. The same Plod then took the 2 women and baby without a childseat...... And why take them 20 miles? Get them off the dual carriageway and call them a cab.
