HI Chaps,

Wondered if anyone has any experince of these U-Boat watches ....I like the 43 cos its not to big on my wrist (the 50+ things look ridiculous!!) but substantial enough to get noticed .....just wondered if there are any known problems ...and wether you guys think they are a bit 'naff'?

the exact model I am looking at is the flightdeck 43 steel bezel

Try a TW- Steel, cheaper and same kicks, very well made for the price.

I believe when U-boat first started the design company kept the rights and produced TW-Steel and the first ones are almost identical. Could be wrong!

Beautiful watches and while I agree the 50+ are too big, the 43s have all the design elegance but in a more sane size.

They certainly look good but really lack a decent heritage for the price IMHO. About 3 years ago and before they got their Swiss manufacturers license you could pick up a 50mm U-Boat for around £60. Clearly they've had to raise their game but I'd still be inclined to spend my money elsewhere.

I think they look OK, but agree with the heritage thing. I don't normally worry about stuff like that but if you could pick one up at sub 100 quid a while ago I'd want to be assured the watch is worth the price hike.

Also, even the smaller ones are huge, I wear a Bell and Ross BR03 most days and that is hardly small but the U boats look much bigger even though they are not. Its probably the depth of the watch rather than the diameter... Mack sure you are really sure beforw you buy!!!

Not that I'd buy one, but the TW Steel prices do seem more sensible. Available from Ernest Jones (amongst others)

Did the prices of the 2nd hand watched produced before they got their licence shoot up in line with current prices or is there a definite pre/post licence situation that's reflected in the prices? And was the full range available then?

*desperately hopes of a way to pick one up on the cheap. A nice 55mm black Flightdeck with orange numbers would do my nicely!
