Usual kind of junk I think - a bill from www.eurobusinessmarket.com for £149.99 (normal price £1499.99, zowee!)

Found this: www.ripoffreport.com/reports/0/365/ripoff0365662.h...

'Wilson' lives at 4 Caledonian Road, Chichester, West Sussex PO19 7PH

I wonder if I should bin it, tell him to fk off, or send it to the police or Trading Standards and get the slimeball closed down?

Well, it's not a scam as such. Many businesses pay it without thinking about it.

But you ought to send him something. An old brick in a box with a 20p stamp on it. He'll have to collect it and pay the differenec.

Yep, it says 'Please send and make payment to: Wilson'

Hence Mr Wilson can insert a selection of initials in front and pay it in to his account.

Iterestingly I once had the misfortune to (try to) work with a conman called Brian Wilson...

We live near Chichester, will swing round that way in the next few days and see if the address actually exists and what its used for.

It is a common 'scam' though. most big businesses especially councils will pay a small bill like this with out even checking it. Portsmouth Council was caught out big time by a bogus building firm who did lots of jobs under £250. It wasn't pick up til they had handed over stupid amounts of money.

Teehee, the power of PH! According to Google earth it's an unremarkable street of semis just half a mile from Trading Standards - who I thought might be interested to see the 'invoice' :chortle:

Thats why I want to check it out, it a street of non-eventful semi's in the centre of the city right by all the council buildings, which makes it even wierder. Might even knock on number 4 door and ask for Wilson!

And give him a kick in the goolies for me smile

In the end I threw the letter away. Wasn't going to spend a stamp forwarding it. However it would have been a lot clearer if it had said: 'Do you want a banner on my crap website?'

I'll file it under 'retard' and move on!

These things are best saved for annoying credit card people with extortionate (sp) APR with tuck in a nice freepost envelope! Great feeling knowing you've wasted their stamp and time just like they did you when they sent you the crap in the first place!

I don't think this is a scam, just some old bloke who set up a website a decade ago and plonking banners on it.

Visit the site (link in the OP) - scroll down - hehe - look at all the companies that did pay his fee, some biggies there as well eek

They must get a load of traffic from their highly targeted advertising.

Bless.

Strangely enough... earlier this year I was being pestered by a computerised debt collection agency for a trivial bill I'd disputed. They ignored my polite and logical letters asking for a revised bill, and just got increasingly 'threatening' - you know the kind of thing. So I wrote to them saying that if they contacted me again I'd charge them a £25 admin fee. They wrote again. I sent them an invoice for £25 + VAT - and to my jaw-dropping astonishment they paid it 10 days later!!! Win to me biggrin
