My car is due a full service as its done the Ring, top speed and drag racing with not alot being touched TBH and the other day I got the clutch issue when I tried to change down to fast and the peddle went all linp and didnt come up very quick and the clutch slipped a little. Left it alone for a short while and alls fine. Is this the fluid in the system being bks now (I have replaced the master cylinder tank fluid only by sucking it out through the top as it was black! a while ago). If so I assume there is a "slave" cylinder which I need to connect my vacume brake bleading kit to to flush through fresh fluid and renew it all...?

Yes, it's the obvious place to start. I don't know where it is though! Then see how you go. But make sure you get it done for the next RWYB so there's no excuses on the launch Roger wink

Slave is inside the bellhousing and looks much like the thrust bearings of old. Access needs special tooling for bleeding.

The slave cylinder is inside the bell housing and the bleed nipple can be accessed through a hole in the side

Also while i was browsing the GTO manual i found this on adjusting the Pressure plate which is new to me thought you just bolted them on centrally and that was it, so does any body now what the adjustment is for ?

When I changed my clutch it looked like the picture. The Max Ellery VY manual I got gave this procedure but said it wasn't necessary and the clutch would automatically "set" itself. So I left it to its own devices. Clutch did bite near the floor for the first day or two but went back to normal. Top image old, bottom new.

For bleeding a 11mm hollow hexagon tube pokes out from the slave cylinder flush with the bell housing. I made a tool by cutting down an 11mm box spanner. You poke the pipe into the hole on the end. Worked well enough.

A great response, from someone who never needs to worry!

A few months back mine did the same Roger(black as you can imagine in the fluid colour department), but bleeding the clutch from the master about 4 or 5 times (with much pumping in between) sorted it out. Its been normal since then...

just bleed it, pump 20 times, check, repeat

You can get a remote bleed kit for the slave done but its a bit of a task

I shall be trying to do this on Sat... I assume the hex tube at the top is like an elongated bleed nipple so you undo it slightly and fluid comes out the end...?

save yourself some time and just do it from the master first, clear out all the rubbish in there, flush through and repeat a few times. Took me about 3 changes to get it all sorted.

I'd give that a go first, do a few runs but dont worry if it gets a little dark

Mike do i need to do what you and Gareth did again. Maybe a few times to be sure the fluids clean?

TBH I need to give the old girl some TLC as Ive only polished her really so an oil change, filter and gearbox oil change are all due to be done if only to give me peice of mind so adding in a clutch fluid change is nothing special. Got an exhaust knock occasionally when it warming up so I can see if its obvious while Im there to.

Wish mine was an auto... I'm half tempted to buy another CV8 and convert it, and compare them side by side!

You will need an auto wiring loom Granada, ecu can be flashed to suit, but the loom needs to talk to the Trans, plus you might need to change the BCM with a tech2 as well. Though Im not sure on that last bit.
Loads of guys on ls1.com.au do the swap both ways.

One of the causes mentiond in the GTO manual is a Kinked or damaged clutch hydraulic hose and suggests:

Inspect for the correct routing of the clutch hydraulic hose.
Route the hose properly.
Inspect for loose or faulty engine mounts that may allow the hydraulic hose to be kinked or pinched.
Repair or replace faulty engine mounts.

Im thinking maybe the rock/twist of the engine could be a cause of exhaust knock and clutch problems, worth checking if your going under the car

Yea. The light at the end of the tunnel! If you want a new L65E plus Convertor let me know I am about to order some. Just check it will be compatible with your PCM. Rich would probably let you know.
