Good ones are getting rarer to find now that they are so cheap as people can't (or dont want to) spend 50k maintenance money on a sub 5k car.
FMBSH isn't a necessity, a good MB specialist will be more knowledgeable as they get more of the older cars. Last time i went to MB Northampton, the oldest car in their workshop was maybe 5 or 6 years old. I doubt they have seen W202's for some time now, let alone a C43. Just make sure the expensive things have been changed recently and the car has been well cared for, i'd say that is more valuable than a FMBSH.

C36 front disk and pad change (proper Brembo`s) £180 all in !
C43`s use AMG branded bits except the engine whereas the C36 used an AMG handbuilt engine and raided the parts bin for everything else . They`re both great cars though - and a bargain if you can find one that has been well maintained .

Surely they cant be that much to maintain, say compared to my evo with its 4.5k service intervals, tire churning ability, poor mpg.. lol
I have no experience of Evo's so dont know their running costs. For info, mine has a FSH (MB until 2005 then specialist), I have £7200 worth of receipts since 2003 and the car has done 89,000 miles. It's feasible to run them for less than that, but would you want a car where the previous owner did the bare minimum to keep it on the road?
Hello
I have to say keep looking you will find one.
The C36 & C43 were made in such low volumes that its not like finding a M3 or S4.
If you give up and buy a c230 you will settling for second best and never love the car.
I looked for about 6 months to find my C36 and ended up traveling from Edinburgh to London over night to buy mine...and I have never regreted it once.
They are fantastic cars and real sleepers, i have lost count of the number of boy racers or prats in 328 or 330 bmw that have flashed me to try to bully there way past only to be left standing when I let rip with the loud pedal.. never get board of doing it,, must grow up..
Anyway I never drove a C43 as prefered the idea of a hand built engine from the renowned tunning outfit AMG and the fact that just about every part can be bought straight from a Merc part department.
Have you tried the C36 or are you set on the C43?
Keep looking

I have owned my C43 for the last 7 years, they are simply awesome......
Bought mine with 13k miles on the clock at 20 months old, Silver with the
Two Tone silver/black leather interior and all the usual spec.......Have only
done 30k odd miles in it myself so car is heading for 50k miles now. Obviously
have too many other cars to use as well.
Maybe would think about selling to the right home. Give me a call even if you just
want some info on C43s in general.
Cheers Alan

That was for sale for a very very long time by Birds a while back....There's a good buyers guide in the December Preformance Car. Well I would say that - it's my car :-)
Seriously, though, worth a read if you are looking for a C43.
Regarding rarity there were just over 400 RHD's imported of which about 140 were estates.
They were the first AMG's to actually roll off MB prodution lines.
History is very important but as one of the other posters mentioned indies are fine - or probably better in terms of their knowledge of the cars.
A good one is a great car. I'm on my second and have been driving one for nearly six years now. No major surprises but a big service can cost (like any up market motor).
