You might remember there was a Member's Pet's thread, back in August.

Fellow PHer Mrs Grumpy posted a picture of a dog which looked remarkably like my own "Rufus".

It turns out that Jo is one of those sainted souls angel who, aside from their 'other' jobs, risk house & home to foster rescued dogs - much kudos to them all - and 'her' dog "Taz" was in need of a new home. Mrs Digga and I had been looking for a compatible (read "suitably manic and robust") friend for Rufus, so amongst the financial doom and gloom of the last few months, this really was a happy coincidence.

Anyway, the good news is that after the obligatory visits - to check that the two dogs would get on and to check where and how we keep our dogs - Taz now has a new home, chez Digga. As you can see he's settling in nicely, Rufus is the one with the red collar, on the left, Taz is on the right:

(Yes I know we need to tidy up, but you try keeping a place looking all "Good Housekeeping" when there's two dogs destroying stuffed toys and God knows what else.)

Sincere thanks to Jo for her help and good luck with the new fosters. thumbup

The woddburner seems to be getting as much attention as the dogs!

The pic was taken on Saturday afternoon, after we'd taken the pair of the out for a big "dogbuster" of a walk, which included a nice big stream for them to play in. You can only dry them off so much with towels - you need a decent blaze to do the rest, and knock 'em out a bit!

Oh! I've only just seen this. That's my boy Taz smile. I'm dead chuffed that he has gone to such a great home. It was happy coincidence that both myself and Marcus saw the previous thread and posted. Taz had not, at that time, been put up for adoption as I had not really had him long enough to fully assess him. When Marcus came along though it was so obvious it was the right home for him and it all fell into place.

Thanks Marcus and Amanda for giving him such a great home. Long may he make you laugh, much like he did me.

A comfy rug and a toasty log burner. 2 lucky boys there, enjoy them.

Oh and to anyone involved in dog rescue - I salute you.

Absolutely, they have my total respect and admiration. bow

Not only do the rescuers have to risk house and home to shelter the little rascals, but they also become very attached to them, knowing they have to let them go. This is usually on top of holding down another job and/or looking after a household of their own.

It's just a shame that there's such demand for their services. Some rescues are understandable and unavoidable - owing to drastic and unforseeable changes in personal circumstances - but in general, a lot of it is down to the sheer selfishness and stupidity of humans.
