Any chance of avatars on PH?

This has been discussed many many times in the past and the answer has always been no, I can't see it changing.

Why would you want avatars anyway, they look a mess and serve no real purpose.

Lots of different 'comedy' images that show just how wacky you are. They're the online equivalent of comedy socks.

I don't like it, I think it looks a mess and serves no real purpose.

One of the things that makes PH what it is is no bloody avatars... and no signatures... two... two of the things that make PH what it is are no bloody avatars, no signatures and a nice clean interface... three... three of the things...

On the condition that the PH team get to pick it...

But we aren't exactly imaginative, so it might be the same as a few other peoples.

Apart from that it's a 'No' I'm afraid. They add nothing except for unnecessary clutter and we will not be adding them (or signatures) at any time in the near future.

PH is one of the easiest websites to read, all clean and tidy. Definatley should stay that way.

Its the signatures which are worse, people post a giant picture of their car underneath every post they make on a forum. Some owners club sites i have been on look a total mess.

As much as I hate avatars I did have an idea just now - how about a small (and I mean small, smiley size maximum) image of your car's marque under the username? (Limited to say 3 maximum). At least it would be topical and perhaps useful.

It sounds like a nice thing but I fear it would look cluttered very quickly. I think the clean simplicity of what is there now is about as good as it gets.
