A while back I mentioned my KEF Cresta 2 driver died and I was thinking of buying some replacement speakers.

Unfortunately I've got a wedding coming up that I'm saving for so I can't really afford a new set of speakers right now.

As such, I'm wondering if anyone has an old set of KEF Cresta 2 speakers they no longer want and would be willing to sell the main driver to me????

I know it's an absolute shot in the dark but I've tried everywhere including with KEF directly and they no longer have any drivers available.

I've already posted this in AV Forums just in case I find something there....

Let me know if you have anything!

Cheers!

Check out Wilmslow Audio - amazingly still trading since I was at school in the 70's!

https://secure.wilmslow-audio.co.uk/catalog/

If they can't supply the exact unit, send them the specs (technical + physical) and they'll recommend the closest.

I have a pair of KEF coda speakers in the loft, maybe same bass speaker?

Thanks for the offer! I'll have to dismantle the speaker tomorrow evening and check out the exact specs and model number. The best numbers I've found are as follows:

100 watts power input
90dB/W/m sensitivity
8 ohms Impedence

As a reference, they look like this:

Diameter will be critical as the units are recessed. Presumably you mean the bass/mid unit?

Yup, that's the one. I'm hoping they're clipped in and not soldered so I can remove them easily.

I'll try and get the exact measurements from KEF. I'm sure they'll have them somewhere.....

Ta!

Just an update if it helps! I've removed the unit and the model number for the main drive unit that needs replacing is KSP1434.

Hope this helps!

Cheers!

Just get a new set of speakers from ebay? You'll get something just as good for under £30ish.

Totally underrated speakers (MS25i Pearls). I've used a set of these on and off and they sound at least on par to a set of Mission 780's I had. They really ought to beat the Kef's by some margin and I routinely watch them go for less than £15... (tempted to get hold of a few sets for a cheap home-cinema set-up).

Not sure the postage to Austria would be justifiable! Thanks for the heads up though.

To be honest if I were to replace my units, I have no idea what to go for. Like I said, I'm on a tight budget. Having plans to spend a pretty reasonable sum of money on my wedding, things are pretty limited.

If anyone has any idea what to look for, I'd appreciate your help. If you are bored and would like to very kindly help out....my local ebay is www.ebay.at . Any hints would be greatly appreciated and you'd get dinner and beer on me on your next visit to Vienna. beer

Cheers!
