E39 servotronic steering

Hi, does anyone out there know of a way to hardwire the servotronic steering to fix it at 1 ratio, and further to that maybe explain how they acheive the variable ratio.

Alpina or Hartge used to modify it on the E34 535is that they did. Some mod to the box that's part of it - it was mentioned in the Fast Lane article on the cars but I'm afraid I don't know how they did it

I think the Servotronic on the E34 at least was more a variable assistance thing Rich - road speed related - as Alpina fitted bigger rubber they used to mod the Servotronic box to get the weighting right.
I don't know if the E39 had a variable ratio as a development of that.
I know the e36 M3 had a variable ratio rack originally ( reverted back to linear on the EVO ) which was slow around the straight ahead and quicker on extremes of lock, so maybe BMW were playing around with the E39 systems as well??
