Hi Folks,

Has anyone had this problem at all...

When driving along minding my own buisness my hazard light sjust decide to come and start flashing away to their hearts content. Pushing the cancel button makes no odds what so ever until they decide they are bored and switch off.

Also sometime when I indicate, in fact just about every time! The indicator will not cancel and so I need to push the button on and off to cancel them. This in turn mostly switches on the hazard lights and they wont go off again.

Even when I pull up and switch off the engine, on occasion the harad lights just come on by themselves. After several pushes on and off with the stalk button they do eventually go off.

I also think I can hear two distinctly different solenoids clicking between hazard lights stuck on and indicators sruck on. My guess is there is one for each system?

My guess is I have a faulty indicator stalk and hazard switch, but am open to all sugestions please??

Is this a common fault??

I find myself driving now and never indicating. I think none are better than telling someone I am turning and going straight on.

My head hurts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cheers

Dave...

This can be a bit of a bd job to do.But basically at the bottom of the stalk sits two micro switches. They are only about £2 from maplins. But they are a pig to get to.The wheel has to come of,and the pod cluster out to get to them. They are cheaply made, and the ends break, causing the return springs to fall out.

The Hazard switch is just a push fit in the end of the stalk, it's possible that it has some crud in it so that is always 'almost' making contact, so it might be worth just trying to remove it and clean it. To remove it you need to just prise it out, you may have to make a bit of slack in the wires that go into the base of the stalk in order for it to pop out.

Thanks folks. I will try the hazard switch option first and see how I get on. If that does not solve the problem then I will remove the whole dash and stalk.

I reckon it will be the latter to be honest, as the indicators themselves stick on also?

Why did they not just fit a normal stalk and hazard switch? I might even change it myself when its in bits.

Cheers for now

If it is the micro switches. Then take the old one along to maplins, and they will match it up.Thats what the other half did for me,when i needed to match one up.
