Do people clean their V8s, and if so,, how?
Discussion
Hi,
I don't post as much as I should on here due to very heavy workload of late, but am still enjoying my Chim 450 after the first 12 months of mainly trouble free and immensely enjoyable motoring, in which the grin factor has not diminished one iota
,, oh yes,, and insurance this year is over £100 cheaper than last year!!, which is nice, considering it's with the same insurance company (Privilege, £632, NC protection included!)
I have always kept the outside of my Chim, (and the interior) spotless, but the great engine looks very grubby by comparison!
Can someone give me any tips, or tell me how to clean up the engine, so it looks as good as the outside?
Finally, the front bonnet is now showing signs of enjoyable driving with stone chips being hard to cover up now,,, is there anyone decent in the Gloucester area that can do a partial re spray of the front?
Cheers
Oh yes,,, I also bought a brand new MGZR160 for my fiancee the same time I bought the Chim, and that bloody thing has been back to the dealers under warranty (one time for the brakes not working!!!!), no less than 4 times,,, it's 5th visit is next week to have rust patches cleaned up!!
The Chim, on the other hand, has been faultless, has never failed to start 1st time and has had only its 6000 mile service and a sender unit replaced!
We talked about getting a Tuscan, but we both agreed that the charm and sound of the Chim is better, driving either at 30mph or 120, the feeling's the same!

All you need is in the household cleaning aisle of your local supermarket - Mr Muscle, Brillo pads, Brasso wadding, Fairy Liquid Power Spray, CIF Bathroom Mousse, etc. Much cheaper and more versatile than over-priced and over-rated Auto products.
Just go easy on the amount of water you use - TVR electrics don't like water.
See - All those hours of house cleaning duties have not been wasted!

Big AL second your comments, never have I seen such a clean engine bay, and there I was thinking mine was clean!!

You may want to take a look around this site, if your thinking of going into detailing either inside or outside your car. OH

Try TVR Bodyshop (link in ads at top of page), just down the M5. Just got mine back from there after a waxoyling, the place was packed with Tivs.

The main difference is the polished plenum chamber - not a 5 minute job! If anyone knows who can do this for a sensible rate (or what tools I need to do myself) I'd be interested.
