I am considering putting some short term whie viper stripes from Holographics on my black tuscan. I have heard this is a bit of a nightmare to do... has anyone done this and got some tips? Cheers

Its pretty straight forward if you take your time, although it ma be a bit easier on a Chim smile
Make sure the car is clean, but do not wax it. The professionals say you should remove all previously applied wax using meths or something - but i have never bothered.
Measure up where you want the stripes to be, and stick masking tape along the outside line.
Fill a spray bottle with a mixture of washing liquid and water, and liberally apply it to the car and the sticky side of the viper stripe - this allows you to slide it into place.
Start at one end, and align your stripe up with the masking tape, using the felt pad that Hollographics provde to smooth out the stripe, removing air bubbles as you go.
Now leave it to dry.
Good luck

some pics here after application

this is what i do for a living, its all about prep work, and taking your time.

the use of the water spray is good to help you correct mistakes. another tip is to use a hair dryer on low heat to remove the air and get a nicer look once dried.

shame your so far away or id make and fit them for you

I had a go at striping-up my old S series for the trip to Le Mans this year. I followed all the usual advice - clean the car, use soapy water, get a decent squeegee an' all that - but I found it very difficult to keep the stripes in a straight line on a surface that's curved in three dimensions. It's very easy to crease the vinyl.

I have seen some very neat striping on Tuscans, but I doubt there's a flat surface anywhere on your car and you'll have to be very patient... banghead

Good Luck!

Do it - they look great! smile

Be patient. I did the Cerbera for Le Mans this year, followed the same principle as Blues. I got some masking tape which was the width of the spacing I wanted the stripes. Then I masked a line down the centre of the car (takes a while!). Not much help using a tape measure, but if it looks good to the eye, it's probably okay.

Then using the spray bottle concotion, I slid the stripe up to the masking tape and using a plastic card and a cloth, I eased the water out from under the stripe absorbing it with the cloth.

Looked fab!

I have to agree as it was my idea to get him in the first place, when my Andy Pandie posted the pics on the Le Mans thread and then so all the others after he was gobsmacked his exact words were "Wow I've never been a trend setter before". biglaugh

Fido is great long live Fido Dido bouncebounce
