...leading off the front of the head (driver's side) on a 4.5? It's obviously oily, but does anyone have any thoughts as to consequences of it slipping off?

Thanks

Thanks, Mike.

Having just run off to check, I can confirm that it does indeed attach to the airbox via some other sort of cylindrical trap.

Aside from the mess of having oil vent straight out in to the front of the engine bay, I assume there's not likely to be any damage from having it temporarily disconnected?

Nope no problems! I would recomend getting it back on as soon as you can. The amount of oil chucked out can be quite a lot!

Did you mean this pipe...???

Had the same problem... can't believe, that they only drill a hole and stuck the pipe in... at the moment fixed with a wire...

Any better solutions are more then welcome...

Oil / mist spray into the engine bay is a potential fire hazard (it can be more dangerous than petrol). If you're running the engine with the vent disconnected, put the end into a bottle to act as a catch tank and separator.

For the record, the pipe I was referring to is the much larger diameter pipe that is down and left of the arrow, running in to the head to the left of the pulley...

You mean, the one that is much larger than the one the arrow is plainly pointing at? Now I'm really confused!
