Alright chaps? Quick intro. Had a few performance cars in the past, Cerbera/Z06 'Vette/Roush Mustang (still got this 'un) but have had to use a pick-up for work. Bored of Jap diesels, and wanting to combine the best of both worlds, I bought an '06 LS2 Maloo yesterday. Drove it the 200 miles home, and it ticks all the boxes. Quicker than the 'Vette & Mustang, I reckon, and not far behind the Cerb.

I've got a couple of quick questions. The service indicator message is up (3000km). I'm planning on doing my own servicing, (at 11,000-ish miles, I'm assuming it'll only need an oil & filter), so does anyone do a manual (checked Haynes' site and can't see anything relevant), and is there anyway to delete the message? Is there anywhere on the South Coast recommended for work on these cars? I don't feel happy leaving it to the local Vauxhall dealer, should I have to use a garage in the future.

Also, I realise that the speedo will read km's, but is there any way to show MPH on the LCD display? Had a quick look through the manual, but can't find anything there.

Anything I need to look out for? I imagine the engine will be pretty much unburstable, going by past experience. How about the rest of it?

Cheers in advance....

Welcome! from the FAQs:

Service Indicator Reset

1. Whilst holding up/down, turn ignition on and wait for the beeps
2. Display shows "Service Reset?"
3. Hold "SET" for until it beeps
4. Display shows "No Items"
5. Turn off ignition

Beware, Holden cocked up the reset intervals, they should be every 10k miles but it reminds you every 10k kms.

You need to drop out of PH and look via www.hsv.org.uk to see the FAQ bit.

Welcome to the forum Mate. There's nothing you can do about the Km's its part of the BCM (body control module). You could set the high speed alarm at 110km's (70mph), I tend to use my sat nav to read out Mph but you get to know where all the speed limits are in k's anyway. No problems at MOT with it being in km's either.

I tried fiddling with the TCM to try and get the figures in Miles, but you have an E40 ECU so it's not possble at present anyway, so you will have to live with it.

My Maloo has been pretty reliable to date so I hope you will get as much satisfaction with yours, as I have with mine. They are pretty exclusive.

Where did you get yours from and has it got any mods'?

Thanks for the replies. Seems quite a community.thumbup

I got mine from a guy in Doncaster. He ran it up York Raceway a couple of times, and was posting in the 13's. Does this sound fair? The only mod I'm aware of is the shifter, which was changed from new. Everything else looks stock. It came over from NZ (build #352) when the owner moved here. Anyone here know the car?
I don't plan on making many changes, as, first and foremost, it'll be a works truck, though the exhaust is a little on the sober side. So far, though, so good.

As for the truck in my profile, since one or two of you seem interested, it is (was) a '46 1 1/2 tonner. The back has been chopped down, and modern Ford suspension fitted front and rear (all carried out by the former owner & Coltech Classics). Engine is the original 216cu in Stovebolt, which runs sweet as you like.
Plans for the winter include suicide doors, air suspension and either a supercharged V8 or a 4-pot diesel (Coltech, again). Not sure which way to go, having already got two V8's in the garage. A roof chop was on the cards, but I think the proportions are spot-on as they are, TBH. One thing that won't be going on is any paint. Here's another pic, taken at Wheels this year, just before I bought her....

Factory times state 13.5,for the 1/4, so you are about right. How about some pictures of it? Mines build #156 (2005). I'll be going to Shakey's on Saturday hopefully to beat my 12.8's.

Don't know whether you realised, but the HSV Maloo is in the Guiness book of records as being the fastest production pick up truck in the World. Mark Skaife was the driver and IIRC? it was 271 kph (168.mph).
