Phone compatibility

Have a 325d M Sport 2008. Have my existing phone (Sony Ericsson k800i) connected via the snap in adaptor and connects to charger and external aerial. Quite frankly I have been pleased with the performance.
Now want to upgrade the phone and find that all the interesting new phones aren't on the BMW 'compatibility list' Further investigation and one finds the list hasnt been updated since march 08, in addition most of the phones on the list aren't even being sold nowadays. Is there anyone else that sells the adaptors that are more up to date?
Just as a matter of interest, on the BMW list where it states limited compatibility - how limited is limited?
