How would the FIA cope IF certain scenario's arose. eg

- Kovalainen knocked Massa off at the first corner and Hamilton then went on to win the WDC tomorrow. Would they dream up some new rule which disqualified both McLaren's from the race?

- Massa and Hamilton go to Brazil with LH 7 points infront. During free practice Massa blows an engine and needs to change and drop 10 positions on the grid. What would the FIA dream up to get around that one?

Even if it was very deliberate im not sure they could do anything to Hamilton, a big penalty for Kovalainen at best, at worst Mclaren being excluded from the constructors if the FIA could prove it was planned.

Nothing, why would they?

Tom,

I admire your perseverence. If I was a Ferrari supporter I think I'd have given up responding to these ridiculous posts by now.

What would happen should Kimi
smash into hamilton in brazil giving him a DNF, and massa winning the WDC could the fia then DQ massa

Nothing.

Well, if it was thought deliberate, Kimi would be excluded from the Championship this year.

Massa would still win the WDC assuming the FIA could find no evidence that team orders caused it.

sounds like something Mr Luca Di Montezemola , would think was worth doing seeing as kimi has nothing to loose, some quiet talks behind the garage and i'm sure it would go undettected although would kimi go to that level?

A more effective, and still applicable, penalty would be to exclude the offender from the Championship next year. The prospect of a year on the sidelines, without pay, would concentrate the mind of both the driver and the team.

Although I'm not that fond of Kimi, I think he is a decent and fair driver, and would never agree to doing something like that.

Perhaps not.

If we were to be real conspiracy theorists, what if:

a) the team had a suitably top notch driver waiting in the wings to cover the base?

b) the driver taking a "rest" were remunerated in some other way...?

I really hope, one way or the other, that the race in Brazil is free of any contact, mechanical maladies and dubious overtaking/pit issues etc. But somehow I doubt it will be.

You get one free engine change per season, and I don't think Massa has used his yet.

A. You can't change in the last race of the season & B. He's used it anyway.

Lets all hope that no such scenarios arise and the stewards do not need to become involved.

And definitely no silly court cases in Paris either.

Still wouldn't happen. If you were Raikkonen, would you take the risk of a year on the sofa - particularly the year you might have wanted to come back and prove you weren't a lucky one WDC wonder, and let a Vettel, or a young GP2 hero, take your seat and drive up a storm for 10-20% of your salary?

I think not. Kimi won't do it. But I would not dream of saying that LDM wouldn't suggest it to him.

a bit off topic, but can i just say that donelly really needs to go.

http://www.crash.net/motorsport/f1/news/170807-0/d...

in his defence of ferrari bias, he cites the example where at monaco, a ferrari was not fitted with wheels at the 3 minute mark - so they penalised kimi with a drive through. however, this is one of the few infringements that actually has a specific penalty - which is to start from the back of the grid.
