Camera suggestions
Discussion
I realise this section is more for the 'serious' photographer, but my LCD screen on my Lumix FX8 just broke. I'm a casual photographer, and the Lumix fitted in nicely when I bought it 2 years ago, small, easily handable and picture quality was half decent.
Looking for best 'value for money' option now. I've been looking at a Canon G11 as it was recommended to me by a friend, but seems a little bulky.
Anyone any suggstions?

Whoops! If you wanted something serious this is the last place to come!Back to your question though. Especially if you have found the Panasonic good already, I'd give serious consideration to the latest models. A cousin just got one as is producing stunning pictures right out of the box.
I only learnt today that Fujis are worth avoiding - seem quite fragile - or I would have suggested these.
Then the Canons are bound to be good too.
But what's the budget, what do you take pictures of, what are your priorities in a good camera?
I dont really hve a budget, i'd say less than £200 maybe. Looking for best value for money as I don't use it often enough to justify the best of the best.
Mainly take photos when I'm out with family, friends... locations we're at. Usually 'personal' snaps. Obviously picture quality is high, but something quite small and compact, don't want to carry something too bulky around.

we got the panasonic lumix TZ 5 a few months ago and are very impressed with it. it's possibly slightly over budget though - i think we paid £180 ish.
I'd give the TZ 5 a thumbs up too. Very easy to use, not too bulky, and amazing the quality of pics you can get (along with the crap ones too
)
- maybe i should have explained a bit about what i thought was good about it
the quality of the pics is excellent, it has a great, 10x optical zoom. it's small enough to be carryable but not so small that it's too fiddly for my ham-fisted hands to operate

oh - and we got it in black - and i think it looks great
