Two of the vans at work were taxed today for another year, and the style has completely changed in a month, I taxed the onion last month and got the 'old' style disc. The new style has gold numbers for the expiry date, a number next to the registration number which is obviously some kind of check digit.

Oh, and it looks like they let a two year old loose with a pack of crayons on the paper they printed the discs on.

So how much did this latest governemt 'idea' cost the motorist then??

Too many people wasting money. SPEND IT ON THE ROADS! THATS WHAT WE PAY IT FOR!

Ok, how about this then:

Borough of Barnet put in 1000 speed humps, later find out they don’t do much.
Borough of Barnet take out 1000 speed humps, some residents complain
Borough of Barnet putting back speed humps where residents have complained

Borough of Barnet rates went up 24% last year

Can anyone see any link?

They changed them to prevent them being forged or copied on laser printers. Same as the new mot stickers. Did the price go up? No, nuff said end of story.

Erm, Yes actually the price has gone up as of August. Instead of being £57.75 it's now £60.50! (for six month under 1.5L)

When does / did this start? Or is it another of these stupid 'voluntary' things?

Just paid £165 for my shiny new style tax disc, I thought that was more than I paid last time?

Maybe try and look at the bigger picture here, if the new tax discs are harder to forge....maybe less scum will actually be running around with forged discs/no insurance/no mot. If this happens the update will more than pay for itself, and reduce insurance premiums etc...

I'm fully for this to try and combat the fraud - if I have to pay the road tax then so should they! I'm not saying I agree or like the tax - just have been crashed into before by scum with no insurance!!

If that was the object of the exercise they could just put it on the petrol - job done. Now what was the real reason?
