Want to get away for a with the other half long weekend / short week sometime next month. Obviously winter is drawing in and the obvious holiday choices are disappearing.

Ideally, it would be somewhere in Europe. Not overly expensive but pleasent. Wouldn't mind a decent hotel to boot.

Any advice / experience would be welcomed.

Leave the Central Heating on coming back to burst pipes might not be fun.

Go to a real German Christmas Market perhaps? I'm going to Hamburg for a long weekend in December to see a friend there and we're planning a Christmas Market trip during that.

Are real german markets hugely expensive like the ones in the UK?
