Anybody got any good CV templates.
Need to do a new one for the good lady.
Also is there any point in putting school exam results on a CV when you left over 20 years ago?

Not a template as such but this format has helped me recently with a number of people commenting on how well it reads.

Top of page personal details, name address, DOB, contact phone numbers etc.

Qualifications - not a full list just highest first then finishing with something like "O-Level - 8 passes at grade C and above including Maths and English"

I then had a "Skills" section where I listed my strongest skills - with an IT\programming job this is quite easy, slightly harder with a more subjective job (IMO), but just list the things you are, or consider yourself, good at.

Then listed work history most recent first - always trying to list one positive aspect of each employment such as "Increased sales in x division by x% in first few months of being there", "played a major part in delivering x product on date and within budget".

Finally put references, I didn't do this but it's something my brother has started doing and is getting very positive results. My CV just says "available on request" however my brother (after seeing it done elsewhere) has put some actual quotes in from previous references, such as:-

"Worked through the night to ensure that product was released on time, don't know what we would have done without him..." John, Director, company x, 06/2007.

He's just put 3 of those at the bottom of his cv and his interview rate has gone up just as a result of that change (He's a an IT contractor BTW that's why he does a number of interviews)

Good format, although I would move qualifications after employment, unless you are a recent graduate.

Take a look at the main job boards - Jobsite and Monster for example.

They will have some useful advice on CV's and possibly templates.

In regards to school/exam results from 20+ years ago - don't bother. if you went to Uni and obtained a degree, that will suffice. However, even ifyou didn't, it's the past 20+ years of work that counts.
