How do you lot not end up destroying your watches, then? I lead quite a sporty life (climbing, martial arts, skating) and find I have to stash my watch somewhere or else it'll get a smashed face or broken strap... Or will you just claim on home insurance when the inevitable happens?

I just imagine it's a bit annoying cos you want to wear your nice watch but don't want to trash it. Also, just doing stuff like shopping in Tesco, you could accidentally whack your hand on a shelf while going for a tin of soup or the freezer door could close on your wrist when you go to get some frozen product. I know it sounds stupid but I haven't worn a watch in about 15 years and realise how much I just let my hands clip things.

I do lots of things and just wear the watches I have. They were all bought to be worn not stashed and looked at, if they get broken they get broken, doesnt really bother me. I'm sure most damage would be repairable and I think all watches look better with a bit of wear on them.

Fair enough. Call me a wuss but I like such things in pristine condition. Maybe I should get a military style watch so it will look right with a cracked screen. I can tell hot chicks I rescued a toddler in Iraq who was about to step on a landmine while holding off the Taliban (yes, I know, wrong country) with a catapult.

I got a omega, Tag, and Rolex. I enjoy wearing them all and take car but in the end they are just watches. like women who have expensive jewelry. they just wear it and enjoy it.

I try to be careful but if you damage it just fix it.

I have a limited edition TAG I bought with a bequest from my grandfather when he died...that hardly ever gets worn...plus the bezel is solid gold so it will get marked easily...

Other than that, I try and wear everything I have once a week. Keeping them all wound is a pain in the arse (I have 5 automatics, 2 wrists and no watch winder)

I have a mental imagine of a dodgy watch salesman watches up your arms, wearing a long coat, now.

I wear my Omega all the time, and it does take knocks, much like what you said, but I know that if it gets really bad I can have it refurbished ect.

Hell I smashed it in to the wall at Waterloo when trying to jump the toilet barrier the other night and not a mark on her biggrin, but they are well made, and they don't show damage really, unless you drop it on concrete or something..

Spose it depends, some watches are made to take daily wear others not, you wouldn't see me wearing one of those Patek watches day to day, I would ruin it.

I wear my dweller all the time.. I've even managed to run a zip wheel across the face of it.. not a scratch anywhere. It's impressive.

My normal watch is a Casio Tough Solar but if I had a decent watch, I'd want to wear it all the time. (I have one from Werners, which is the nearest to a decent watch I'll get and I want to wear that all the time but it's so nice in its pristine form).

I wear my Seamaster all the time. Gardening, DIY etc. It's extremely robust. I think divers watches in particular are built to withstand wear and don't the worse for it.

I came off my bike the other day and grazed the bracelet on the pavement. Can't see any scratches unless you look closely.

I wear my Omega all the time (except see below). Sure, it takes some knocks every now and then, but to be honest whatever I hit seems to come off second best. The amount of chips I've taken out of door frames at home is ridiculous!

I'm fairly active (climbing included), and I only ever wear a watch when I run (a Garmin). I'd never wear anything around my wrist climbing, not least a watch. Can you imagine dangling by your wrist if it got caught on something? A hand jammer would certainly be out of the question!

It’s not any hassle to remove and leave in a safe place whilst you’re active.

I wear a Tag and iv just started uni, iv been wearing it nearly 2 years now, got it for an 18th birthday present from mum and dad. When i first got it i was always checking to make sure it was still on my wrist, but i guess with most things you just get used to it!haha.
Now i dont even think about it, when ever i go to play sports or gym etc i always make sure its somewhere safe. Was kind of worried about having it at uni for some reason, so just made sure my insurance covers it incase, and it does, so its all good.

I have a Tag F1 watch that I bought 15 years ago.

Worn it every day - and wear it to ski, swim, sail, etc. Yes it looks a little, er, used, but no point in these things sitting in a drawer. It's a watch, tells teh time well and looks nice. Worn so much, my arm feels odd when it isn't on....

Tag have always been good at replacing worn parts (bezel seems to get the worst marks) when it goes in for servicing every 2 years or so).

That's what I was thinking earlier. Didn't want to ruin a perfectly sensible thread by talking about crack jamming... d'oh. Blown it now.

I never used to wear mine when I first got it. I have had it just less than a year and now I wear it a lot. Its worth around 3k and yes it does have a fair few marks on the bracelet but I will get it polished at some point! I do try and wear it as much as I can.

My tudor I will wear what ever I am doing and same with my hamilton. I think the watch I am most carful over is my white 50 quid Casio. I don't wear it much will take it off at some points.

I used to think they were best off left in the draw but I love wearing them so do try to wear them when I can.

The SD gets worn all the time and as yet doesn't have a mark on it and I haven't mollycoddled it one bit - the Glashütte has a coupld of smal scratches on the case but that will get sorted when it goes in for a service and will come back for new.

They'r edesigned to be worn, and while I admit some are tougher than others, it would be a crying shame for them to end up in a safe all day long.

£0-100:
£100-500:
£500-1000:
£1000-2000:
£2000+:
