91-93 versus 94 S4 What should I buy

I can stretch myself and buy an S4 (30k) but would rather only spend $20-25k and buy a 91-93 Se but I have read a little that tells me that an S4 is more reliable than the earlier versions.

Any owners out there of these cars who can comment on repair and maintanence costs? Anyone owned both who can compare?

Under the hood, there's really not a hole lot of difference. With the S4 you get an upgraded suspension over the SE, power assisted steering, better brakes, updated interior(late model year 93 had same), passenger side airbag, and the curves of the front and rear valances are a little smoother.
As far as realiability, they say "buy the newest model year that you can afford", the Esprit get's better with every year.
In the end, any early 90's Esprit should be reliable enough if it has been well maintained.
