Hi,

I'm going to dubai next week to visit a friend - 2 questions - i take co-codamol for my back is this banned? if so what do i need to bring it with me? Second is can you bring alcohol into the country ( ie a gift of champagne? )

Thanks - looking forward to seeing the sunshine!

Hi mate,

So long as it's still in the packet and don't take it out of the box. Why people do that i don't know...

As for champagne you can either buy it at departure or buy it when you arrive in Dubai. You are allowed to buy 3 bottles of alcohol upon arrival.

And on another note register for DNATA travel's Marhaba meet and greet service, I picked my parents up from the airport last week and took them over an hour just for passport control. Marhaba get's you fast tracked through.

You can get 4 bottles at dubai duty free, after passport control

I have not have had good experiences with marhaba (eg - them not turning up on two occasions), so now i just send people the emirates fast track cards , but others have had more luck with them

3 litres of booze can be brought in with you. best is to buy it in Duty free at Dubai Airport just after you exit immigration.

Hi

Alcohol is easy, just pick it up in Duty Free after you arrive.

But be MUCH more careful with the painkillers. Codeine and the like are banned - if you absolutely have to carry it, leave it in a sealed packet and bring a Doctor's prescription for it with you.

BTW - the weather is getting better by the day! It was a balmy 26C this morning, and absolutely beautiful. Great time to visit.

Trains? hahahahahahahahaha sorry had to laugh. No, no trains. There are coaches between Dubai and Abu Dhabi. You could always hire a taxi too, which I have heard will set you back AED200 or so (GBP30)
