Alpina D10 E39 touring, whats the economy & running like .

Hi, the Alpina D10 E39 Touring 245bhp , whats its like compared to the 530d touring in normal guise.Is it still a sudo "economic diesel" or would u be better with a petrol when its tuned this much. Its also expensive but is it worth it , like 14000euro yr 2000. Just liked the idea but not sure how mad it is , liked the exclusivity but I need more than 25mpg , its for long regular autovia journeys.
