quote:
Stephen Byers will attempt to deflect mounting criticism of his transport policy today by announcing a £1.68 billion plan to speed up Britain's main roads.
Where's the catch?
quote:
Motoring organisations, however, will say that with a £32 million road maintenance backlog in London alone, this is still not enough to stop the decay of vital trunk roads.
Ah.. there it is..

Stephen Byers has an exponentially rising annoyance factor!

I didn't spot this story, though the complete incompetance of the whole thing has 'Byers' written all over it (non-joined-up hadnwriting, in crayon).

On a similar note, have a look at my "Labour Speed Initiative" thread.

Trains go on strike. Roads get (even more) congested. "B****r me" says Byers, "didn't see that one coming. I know, announce some dosh for roads and win a few Brownie points"

Stephen Byers, specialist subject the bleeding obvious.

Where exactly did this own-willie-fondling dips**t study Rocket Science?

They spend 1.6bn speeding the roads up, then recoup 2bn from gatso fines - if I thought anything would come from the plans to speed up the roads I'd be concerned....

I read somewhere that Steven Byers doesn't drive - he doesn't even have a driving licence! Not only is that pretty stupid for a Transport Minister (first hand experience and all that) I find it insulting.

And a Sports Minister who doesn't know squat about sports, and a Health Minister who was never a Doctor, the list goes on... And we wonder why the things go wrong...

It goes wrong because we're now sharing our Prime Minister with half the developing world. West Africa to day I believe.

Actually that's a good thing. If he's "over there" he can't be f*****g something up here!

Don

You're forgetting that while The Joker's away, the bar steward will play. Fatty Prescot is in charge now!

If you're a mulleted agricultural worker, I'd advise you to lie low for a few days.

I loved it when some MP stood up in the House, just after President Blair returned from India etc., and said "whilst the PM is on his state visit to Britain...." Bunch of tossers, the whole lot.

On a totally unrelated issue, I've just been informed about the "new rules" governing the Child Support Agency. It took me 2 years to make them see I don't have to pay my ex-wife any money for my kids, and that will now be reassessed, and likely to go from paying £0 per month to £800 per month. What a great government eh? (she already earns £3000 a month part time!!!)
