Whilst trying to reset the mpg/mph settings on the computer, I must have pressed a combination of buttons and adjusted the mileage at which the low fuel light comes on. Previously it was "about right" at 50 miles, meaning approx 100 miles with reserve, but now it comes on at about 67 miles - not devastating, but it is annoying.

Does anyone have a link (wiki?) to what can be adjusted on the trip computer display and how?

It comes on when you've got a certain amount of fuel left in the tank doesn't it?

Which depending on how you've been driving beforehand can sometimes be 50 miles left, can sometimes be 67 miles left..

Mine is almost religiously 60 miles left when the light comes on. However today it came on at 70 miles because i've been doing more motorway miles recently. It must alter with your average consumption since the last reset.

I seem to recall having seen a linear display on the trip computer with a vertical marker that could be moved left to right, and this seems to have affected the fuel warning light timing.

I stand to be corrected, but historically regardless of the type of driving (gentle touring or full-blooded Le Mans hooning) the warning light came on at 50 miles, whereas on a mixed drive of 2200 in France the warning light came on regularly at 67 miles. Logic (may) suggest that the warning light is set to come on at the same range regardless of your driving style - if you need a visual warning of 50 miles range, it'll come on with less fuel on board than if you are driving as the car was designed.

It would be useful if a BMW technician could deal with the wider issue I raised - what settings can be adjusted by different combinations of button pushes, and what information can be gleaned about the car's health. Surely this information isn't top secret to the dealer network? I managed to access it somehow after all!

This would be useful but as with a lot of settings for the car different people tell you different things. Some say you can't do anything, others swear to have tweaked or viewed loads. A definitive list would be great.
