I have just had an estimate back from a recommended TVR bodyshop repairer to spray in four relatively small scratches that have been touched in the paint is Silver...

They have quoted nearly £1000 labour and £500 paint..are they on class A drugs.. I paid £800 for a complete respray of my wifes Clio...

Any opinions on this... £500 worth of paint would surely cover the respraying of around 5 TVR's

Just had the front end of my t350 sprayed right up to the doors (not the bonnet)in stardust silver for £400.00 all in.

I would say your being ripped off.

No I am in Essex sorry. My only advise is keep away from "TVR specialists or TVR recommended" as they tend to put the pot on.

It all depends what the paint is .. reflex paints cost around £250 / litre.

A complete car is 5 litres of paint for approx 4~5 coats.

So a reflex car will cost about £1500 in paint alone.

This site will give you some idea of costs for the materials :

The bodyshop I recommended on your other thread told me £800 for a complete front end respray. They do quality work, however the smaller the job, the more expensive it is relative to the size of the job - they can only get the paint made up in 5l batches, and as the paints are water based nowadays, it all gets poured down the drain afterwards.

If it is a really small job, what about Chipsaway?

Chipsaway will spray in small areas subject to curvature, joins etc. They did a good job on my rear bumper, but declined a patch on the bonnet as they felt it might show.

I know chipsaway are franchised and so would depend on the person doing the job. But I wouldn't give the guys round here my lawnmower to paint. frown
Please be carefull with these people...you get what you pay for.

we can mix a tenth of a litre on our scheme and buy in quarter litres from suppliers and waterbase will keep, no need to throw away whats left. i have just painted a full back end on a chim in silver with 1 litre of waterbase over half of a litre of a wet on wet surfacer.just to give you some idea.

Hi

Im having problems with mine. I bought it from Offords as Stardust Silver but im not sure it is.

I had a spin and shunted the back end into a central reservation. Had to have a new rear corner and bootlid. All in it came to £3800 (insurance). But the paint match is rubbish (the new paint is more silver than mine which is a kind of silver but in some lights allmost looks baby blue). In the past its had work on the front and apparently the coachbuilders had the same problem. It has received paint from 3 sperate companys all going off the trim/colour plate on the car. Only one got it right.

I was told to respray the whole car would be £6000.

It all sounds a bit steep and daft to me
