Hello
The car runs perfect, however just recently would not turn the starter and i found fuse 5 under the rear seats 30A had blown... replaced the fuse and away she went. just today the same thing... i dont have the card that tells me what the fuses do. can anyone tell me please what it says on the fuse card. alternatively any suggestions as to why it may have started to blow. many thanks AG.

I may be able to tell you tomorrow but meanwhile have a sniff around here, you may find a schematic:

I've now discovered that fuse 5 under the rear seats is for the radio/cd changer, and the central locking. but now with that fuse replaced the car will not turn over, which cured it previously. everything else seems to be working correctly. any ideas as to how the immobiliser works and how i can bypass it??

You can't bypass the starter.

There are a few common faults you could look at. The K40 relay is the next I'd look at. Do a Google on it. If you have an electronic IR key, the barrel is another - but look at the relay first.

K40 was replaced by me with a second hand unit about 12 months ago. I'll put the old one back on to see if it cures the problem( the problem with the old one was cutting out, it always started the car so should give me a good indication) and the key is a proper key a flip type non electronic. i have to admit i would recon on a relay is it just the k40 or is there another one which could be the culprit. there is a couple of clicks when i turn on the ign one from the multiplug next to what i think is the injector pump in front of where the k 40 is located. but no noise whatsoever when i try to start the car...could it simply be the starter?

Possibly. Get a meter on the starter terminals and check for 12V when you turn the key.

got a meter and seems to be no voltage getting to the starter. its difficult to get to on the om606 but if itake some of the manifold off i could perhaps run 12v direct to the starter . is this worth doing? if not whats the next step. i don't think the starter is protected by a fuse. could be the ign switch i suppose. what else?
