Black VXR on the Warminster by-pass - actually managed to find the headlights to flash too.
Actually it was an 05 CV8
Impressively fast flash too - sorry I only managed a wave.
2 seconds after the flash I washed my windscreen.....to be sure I got the right side

bloody lazy European manufacturers who don't bother swapping the controls when building RHD versions

Are you a local in the Warminster area or just passing thrugh matey?I'd quite like a meet-up, esp to check out what upgrades I should consider. Brakes obviously, but toss up between chip-tuning to 400-ish or going the whole supercharged hog.
Realistically, how long do s/c belts last? Mine is very much a daily driver, can't be arsed with sitting around with broken belts.

Hi Yertis,
Good to see you all the other weekend. I did have a broken belt, but that was because it was damaged, probably by a small object getting caught up, no damage to any cogs though. It was easy to spot the damage & I had the replacement belt in the boot ready to get it fitted. Sods law it gave out the day before it was booked in!
Prior to the damage, the belt had minimum wear. The new belt seemed to suffer very little wear either.
I think it would prudent to change the belt on an annual basis though.
I'd fit AP brakes prior to any other mods. You can drive faster with these fitted, due to the fact that you can brake so much later. But you know that.
Then go the whole hog & get it a S/C.
IMO, you'll just waste your money on minor performance mods. as ultimately you'll want the S/C.

Thanks Tom, I'm "rapidly" coming to that conclusion too. What kind of annual mileage were you putting on? Good to see you all the other weekend. The Monaro is getting better and better as it runs in, certainly keeping now.
Yertis,
No less than 20k miles p.a. Mainly motorway miles.
Never encountered anything that could overtake the supercharged HSV VX in a straight line. Plenty tried & a few could keep up.
Prior to further mods./improvements by me, Autocar twice timed my car at 0-100mph in 10 secs.
But it was the 100-160mph. range (where legal of course) that it was really quick.
On a like for like basis, it did more mpg than the n/a HSV VT that I had before. Cheaper to service than most cars I've owned.
For straight line supercar performance, in an everyday useable four seater, a S/C HSV/Monaro etc. has to be the way to go. IMO anyway!
Oddly, I now get my motoring thrills driving at about 3mph off-road!!!

We could have a little 'mini meet'? Im in Shaftesbury, have had a couple of meets with VXON at the pub in Longbridge Devril, nice food. What are your thoughts?
I could do that as well and it would be a great drive from christchurch all the way to zig zag hill
. It would be nice to meet some other RO owners before I sell.atco2 said:
