I have just bought a 2 tonne trolley jack and 2 tonne (x4) axle stands from halfords, as they had a deal on.
I want to put the 350i up on the stands over winter so i can work on the chassis. Question is: where's the correct part of the chassis to put them, so it doesn't do any damage and isn't dangerous?
Sorry for the numpty question, just want to be sure.

The main centre sections are best.. not out riggers
or suspension components..

You could place a thin piece of wood on them too - to
project the chassis paint but dont bother if the
chassis is not absolutely mint..

Always perform a 'rock' test .. put the car up on stands (a pair at a time) put wheels under car near stands and then with increasing force - try and rock the car.. if it does not seem stable ... then don't
even think of going under there !!

Re-think where that stands need to go !

If you are lifting both ends I would suggest wheel ramp are safer.
