Hello Mods.

Any chance of a 'Bangernomics' section in other marques? The thread I started in GG seemed to attract a lot of interest and it could be a nice alternative section for those amongst us who's daily driver is an older car. Could also be used a combined forum for DIY fixing/advice etc.

How about it?

Many thanks

BJW biggrin

Found this thread via a Google search (don't trust the hamsters...!) as I was thinking exactly the same thing.

This method of running a car is great and it seems more people are picking up on it. Help, tips and advice are especially useful for this kind of thing so it would be great to have a new section dediated to running older cheapo motors.

What says PH?

With the proposed banger and electric car allowance, a thread along these lines might not be very long lived? smile

But this is PH, not MindlessDroneDoWhatTheGovtWants-Heads.

Here we are interested in cars and motoring and can actually see the benefits of keeping old(er) cars running - saving money and the planet (yeah) in the process.

I reckon it's got legs but maybe just a single thread in GG would do the job, kinda like the Bargain Barge thread and the ///M Power Bargains thread?

i would welcome such a forum. i need somewhere to post a 'list of things wrong with my car, but its suprisingly still road legal and drives' thread.

Saves hire car costs !

For fear of banning myself ..... +1hehe

I think it's an excellent idea - and not just a forum to discuss specific cars, but also bangernomic tips and tricks, etc, etc thumbup

Yep, we like this idea a lot. I may have to ban myself from it however, for fear that I'll never do a proper day's work again wink

You can just search the entire classifieds for say a sub £500 car if that's what you're after. Sometimes throws up some forgotten alternatives to what you might have been looking for originaly.

1)Humming noise from front bearing. Okay for now, but we all know it won't last
2) HG on the way out. Managed to drive 102 miles today and only use a beaker of coolant
Electric Aerial Fecked, AC not working, rear wiper motor dead. Tape stuck in head unit,

i lost the driver's side lock on the banger at the weekend. its been iffy since i bought it [prev. owener sold it as someone tried to jimmy the lock off] but have never bothered fixing it. the barrel must've severed the linkage as it was spinning around on saturday and i lost the barrel on a trip to B&Q on sunday.

i'm not fixing it, unlocking my door via the passenger's side is just another 'quirk' to put up with!

i do need something to fill the hole though, a scrunched up piece of tinfoil isn't going to cut it!

one upside is that i stupidly locked the door without taking the keys out of the ingnition. the spoon from my lunch and 20secs later and i had the door open again! this is still a positive thing in my eyes.

Yeah, but we live in a PH World right now where they are desperate to add more and more sections.

We can't even let the current layout issue die before we have mods jumping on this, expressing their support for yet more sections. Sorry Kinky.
