The Scamera Never Lies..?
Discussion
While cycling down the road the other day I noticed a woman driving past a Scamera and getting flashed with a normal double flash. She didn't seem to be going particularly quickly. A few seconds after she had passed, the camera again did a double flash although there were no cars going past?
I've seen Scameras go off quite a few times when there are no cars about. What's this all about?
Do they check the recorded speed before sending out a NIP?

It was probably a test shot done by the operator, to ensure that the camera was working correctly.
The camera carries out checks at the start and finish of each site visit to ensure that it is working correctly, these checks are accompanied by the fash unit flashing twice.
The operator will also advance the film several times, this film advance will trigger the flash.
Hope that answers your query.

OK, I give up!! What's the connection?

No, it can`t be done remotely. I mistakenly thought you were talking about mobile Gatso.
It does sound as if this camera has a fault and yes ALL speed and red light films are checked prior to sending out.
I wonder if the blank pictures produced have a speed measurement accompanying them? I'm a bit concerened people may be being unfairly done.

Sorry for the dealy in replying, work got in the way, anyway, when a test shot is taken by ANY Gatso speed camera, the test speed (ie the treshold speed set by the operator) appears in the top right hand corner of the shot, there are always at least three test shots and three frame advances, no one travelling past the camera at this time will recieve an NIP.
