Gordon Brown has taken UK into Recession

I don't think an individual, irrespective of how negligent or complacent, can be blamed for such a widespread failure.
Well actually his reluctance to regulate the City as Chancellor to attract investment pushed the Americans to compete by offering sub prime loans and the consequent CDO/CDS to string vest wearers on porches up and down America. So in a way it could be said that hes very responsible.

you think we went from doing well to on our arse in the time he been in power? or would you consider it more than likely took us a bit longer to get here?
im not a brown fan at all, but i cant lay the blame for this at his feet.
Actually, yes. The previous Tory government bequeathed Brown a golden economic situation and Britain was amongst the best countries measured by competitiveness. Since then Britain has slid down the table due to taxes and red tape. All Introduced by NL and GB.im not a brown fan at all, but i cant lay the blame for this at his feet.
Not all the blame, just most of it.

I know....things were starting to look vaguly like it was going to be ok.... But what a cock for saying that...now all the confidence that was gained by dishing out 50bn pounds has been wasterd...
What an utter utter looser he is!
I am not sure where this vague positiveness comes from that you comment on but it was all still looking gloomy according to the stats - the banking sector had been stabilised but that is about that. What an utter utter looser he is!
It is a global problem as mentioned before - but he was very silly in the past to say no more boom and bust. Any govt that tries to take the glory for an economic purple patch is going to get hit in the face when it turns. As it always does.
And it is loser, as mentioned for the past 56 years

I'M no labourite, but I'd suggest blaming the current government for this recession is bordering on childish.
Recessions are inevitable. I blame him for making it much worse than it might have been.Gassing Station | The Pie & Piston Archive | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
