Well, the family is looking to go somewhere for the weekend, any recommendations?

Preferably in England, and preferably somewhere interesting.

This time of year then I'd do London, York or Bath

'Interesting' depends what you're interested in. Give us something to go on

Well, interested in anything really. History appeals though.

Just back from a long weekend in York from up here in Scottyland.
Totally recommend it as a w/e destination but take lots of money.

Try Styal - Quarry Bank Mill; the village itself, built for the workers in the mill and a stroll through the woods. That lot will take up a day.

Then head for Manchester and the Museum of Science and Industry.

I've recently been up to Chester for the weekend with the Mrs and we both really enjoyed it, its a lovely place with lots of things to do. Chester Zoo was ace! Boat trips and the city itself have a really nice feel to it with a brilliant Tapas resturant!

Glad to hear someone still appreciates Chester, reading the local rags it would appear that John Betjeman is due a sequel to Slough. It's a great place, not that I'm biased or anything...
