I am thinking to make the move for the short induction kit from ACT but i dont know what i will need for the remaping.I read that the car will be in need of a remapping after installing this kit. I own a 2001 4,5 RR and i live in Cyprus where mechanics see the Cerbera as a U.F.O!! Isn't possible to make the change without any remapping?

Thanks

I assume that ACT will know, so shouldn't you ask them?

Dependent upon how your car is currently mapped then you may get away with it, but to be honest you are better of having it mapped or gettind a generic chip with the kit.

When I was doing the final development on the Whirlwind Induction I simply fitted it without a remap, the car made more peak power and was marginally down on torque in one area. The curves were noticeably smoother, however it was then remapped by Joolz at Track Car Solutions and the gains then appeared all the way through the power and torque curves, plus this also gave me the re-assurance that the fueling etc was spot on.

Give ACT a call and they will advise you of the options available.

If you don't need to buy new backplates (part of the ACT kit), then the other option is to purchase the Whirlwind Kit from Track Car Solutions and have it supplied with a generic chip to ensure fueling is not compromised, the kit and chip are easy to fit.

Jules.

Fitting is easy enough to do yourself. You should as a minimum get the car checked after fitting to make sure the mapping is sufficiently accurate for you to safely run the car. Paul Austin over at Austec has supplied generic maps to other Cerb owners in Northern Ireland (see this thread). I'm sure that something could be arranged, but as Peter says call or email Tim at ACT to get the info from the horses mouth.

Whats the price for the kit from track solutions? Both the induction and chip?

Hi there. I wont now sell generic chips and kits for self fit, sorry.

There are too many underperforming cars out there .. probably half the cars I see in for mapping have faults/problems that need addressing before any mapping takes place, the risks are too great I feel for supplying chips and kits for home fit. You'd be surprised how many cerbs i see that dont make 300hp as delivered!

The other issue is I dont export any or my parts - it can be a nightmare in just such a case of this where you fit a kit, the car doesnt perform as expected (through no fault of the kit) and I then have the problem of sorting it out with a car in another country, over the phone.

Good luck to anyone wishing to supply you a kit under these circumstances! smile

Mixali, why do you want a short induction for your car? is it running badly apart from the misfire (which should be down to the plugs). I d suggest you download the cerbera software into a laptop, get an odb cable and connect to your ecu with car running this will give you an indication if theres a problem. You can also take it to a rolling road and post your map readings here. Concerning your purple induction pipes going brown, that happens to all cars so its not a problem

Before the misfires, honestly i didnt drive a wilder and stronger car, very satisfying power but now with the misfires i see if there is any upgrade i can do. I think i will not risk anything else apart from the standard parts and i will go new purple hoses. Anyone knows the source to get them and price?
Also do you think is better to go for upgrade magnicor performance leads or the standard ones?

Cheers,

ACT do the standard hoses - slightly improved and black to stop discoloration.

No time like the present, get the camera out and snap away. I was posted to Cyprus on a few flying visits while I moved to other places so would be good to see the cerb in a country I used to work in.
