Are formula 27 cars any good
Discussion
Hi
One of lads I work with is selling his 1997 formula 27 car with a 2 ltr zetec engine. I have a few questions:- Are they any good? Is it worth buying one? What should I look for? Would it be a good track car? road car? Is there anything else out there that would be a better buy for 5000 quid. Thanks in advance

The answer is probably 'it depends'...
The Formula 27 started out as an ultra-budget plans-built car, some time before Haynes hit it rich with the same concept in the form of the LoCost. It has since been developed via chassis supply, through to a full 'production' kit car.
The quality of plans-built and early kits can be a bit variable. Recent cars are ok, but IMO there are better designs out there - I'd rather spend £5K on a Westfield SEi or a Sylva, but you'd need to look at the actual car to judge quality and specification before deciding whether it offers good value or not.
