My Hope Vision LED light packed in recently, its over a year old and has lived in some pretty shocking conditions, mud, rain, filth, cold, hot, you name it.

I sent it to Hope (in Lancashire) for repair on Friday afternoon. It came back this morning by FedEx. No charge. No warranty. They replaced the battery (not cheap) and put new leads in. All for nothing.

Has anyone else received such excellent service? It compares well with the 4 months I've been waiting for Gaggia to send me a new filter holder.

Yes, some manufacturer down Brum way sent me some obscure brushes for a washing machine motor, free of charge.

Took me feckin' ages to track him down, top bloke.

Nespresso.

Machine broke after 18 months (2 year warranty).

I phoned them and they sent someone to pick it up who gave me a replacement machine while mine was being fixed.

Get mine back tomorrow.

The extendable tube on my Sebo Vacuum Cleaner broke after 4 years of being used on flag stone floors. One call to their service centre in High Wycombe produced a new extendable tube delivered to my office the next day completely free of charge.

I once left 6 bottles of wine in a trolley in Waitrose car park in Thame. Called them when I got home to ask if they had been handed in. They hadn't, but unprompted Waitrose replaced them free of charge and didn't even ask for a receipt.

I will always use these companies because of the above.

Always have liked the service from HOPE. Remember having one of their early sealed hubs and the flange cracking. FoC replacement arrived within a week.

It goes against the grain on PH, but I was in Halfords for something one day, what is irrelevant, just as well really as I've forgotten, but for the sake of argument some engine oil, anyway I was in Halfords looking for a product that may or may not of been engine oil and just happened pass the Maglite display at the same time as one of the members of staff, again I can't remember whether it was a spotty oik or a chap with receding hairline and mid-midlife crisis. They're the only types who work in Halfords, oh apart from the girls with dyed black hair and 50 lip piercings but they only work Saturdays and I don't think it was a Saturday.

Anyway I was in Halfords, for some engine oil, passing the Maglite display as a spotty oik was near by and asked out of curiosity if it was possible to order spares as the silver material on the reflector had begun to wear through due to over zealous cleaning on my part. Spotty oik didn't know but said he would take my number and find out for me.

A couple of days pass and aforementioned oik calls me to say spares are in store if I would like to go in and collect them. So after work, I go to buy the spare reflector and was given them FOC, apparently Maglites don't go wrong and even Halfrauds don't charge for spares. No mention of can I see your warranty card or serial number of the lighting product or anything. I left most impressed.

Right that's just filled 15 minutes of my time, not that I'm having yet another slow day in the office, time to find a new job.

Regards
Iain

Navman. My Sat Nav stopped working just over a year after I got it. I had already resigned myself to having to get a replacement when I phoned up their customer services.

The following morning a package arrived with fully paid packaging to send it back to Navman. I sent it off and 2 days later it returned, fully reconditioned with a nice letter to boot! I was most impressed

Classic Additions.

I picked up a small rip on my cover for the Cerb, called them to enquire about a repair patch. Next day they delivered 4 A4 size patches that I can cut to size, more than enough.

All FOC, great service, nice guys.

I got a replacement bin lid (Brabantia spring loaded jobby) FOC from John Lewis when ours broke after 3 years abuse. I didn't have the receipt and hadn't taken the old one in as I assumed I'd have to buy onethumbup

Lowe Alpine repaired my rucksack FOC when the stitching started to go after 10 years or so. They even patched the hole where a bd tree rat had chewed through to get at a Marathon.

Ditto. The straps started to come off after 12 years of serious abuse, sent it off to them and back it came within a week with a brand new (and upgraded smile) back system.

Vango tent - 2 years old, one of the pegging points ripped away from the flysheet. Sent it back, and again within a week a brand new tent.

Sometimes a lifetime warranty is just that thumbup

Aqualisa did just the same for me when I had a problem with my shower. It was almost three years old but Aqualisa's warranty on that model is five years and they sent the bits by return smile

That reminds me - Aqualisa sent me some free bits too, I wrote to the MD thanking them for swift and efficient service and received a nice letter back.

Almost time for a group hug I reckon.

Yep.

Creative Video near Brum replaced a faulty video drive from our Avid system that we asked them to take a look at, when it suddenly failed, knowing it was out of warranty - we needed to get some footage off it.

They repaired the fault (failed component on the circuit board) backed up all of the video data on the drive, reformatted the repartitioned the drive, then put the footage back on.

All they charged us was for the express courier to get the now working drive back to us so that we could complete an edit, and make a deadline.

Extremely impressed.

Oakley used to be fantastic - free out of warranty repairs, replacements, you name it - they were fantastic.

They tarnished themselves recently when they refused a FoC replacement on a faulty watch bracelet when it was only 6 months old (but after arguing they did eventually fix it FoC).

I still have a lot of respect for Oakley and I will continue to but their products, maybe the latest episode is a sign of the times, tightening the belt and all that?
i've always had oakleys, maybe five or size pairs in as many years - a good few years ago my e-wires broke (lenses fell out for whatever reason)... They sent out a courier who picked them up and then sent me another brand new set FOC within 3 days.

I was amazed.
