SC Power blower

Got one fitted in my garage but not mapped it yet... I'll tell you in a week
Fantastic support from SC-Power though. My kit isn't the standard one and so there have been a few hurdles to jump over but Colin and Dave have been great every step of the way. If my car makes the numbers Colin is expecting, I'm going to be very happy this time next week!

Tell us more! How much boost do you have planned and what sort of output is being predicted?
The fact I have a lower compression ratio than the 400's and 500's (9.35:1) and a cross-bolted engine should mean that the engine isn't too stressed, but I expect to be wiring the heads, dropping the CR and getting some stronger bits in the nearish future. The gearbox is fresh with a sorted 5th gear and the clutch is up to the job, but the drive shafts and diff may need looking at in the future though I expect! Already got SH drop links, Nitrons and Wilwood 4 pots so it should go around corners and stop I hope!

Hope you have Top hats with all that power..
Good point, at the moment no. But I imagine I will need some. I won't be running it at full whack so as not to blow anything up but Dave from SC-Power has been running at 400 and a bit for quite a while now with lots of track miles under his belt and thus far they've had no problems. Not to say I won't but at least I know it's been done before!450Nick said:

Would you really want much lower CR for a supercharger setup??
Most guys in the US would run around 9.1:1 on many V8's, ok you'll need super unleaded but it'll make more power. On a LS1 V8 they are around 10.1:1 CR and will run fine with 7psi on superunleaded.
7psi into a 9.35:1 engine should be ok. I'm running 9-10psi into 9.25 bone stock chevy. Most guys in the US would run around 9.1:1 on many V8's, ok you'll need super unleaded but it'll make more power. On a LS1 V8 they are around 10.1:1 CR and will run fine with 7psi on superunleaded.

Sorry 7 psi should be fine, they run the same boost on the SC500 which runs at 10:1 with no problems at all. I meant I would need to drop if further if I ever wanted to up the boost. This is unlikely in the near future however as the current setup should be more than capable of breaking the top end and gearbox if allowed to run to the limit. This is fine though, it means I have scope for upgrades/improvement which is important to me, being the serial tinkerer!
I think I may throttle back on the Chim after the charger though. I'd quite like to re-spray it next Spring and then focus on getting something out in the Tuscan Challenge

Nick sounds like you're going to have a very nice beast when its finished.
Don't know if you have already bought the bigger fuel pump and regulator, but if you haven't don't, you don't need it from my experience.
My initial setup was a stock early 5.0 ltr with bosch red top injectors and an FSE rising rate regulator set to 43psi...Mark Adams wripped it out and stuck a std bosch regulator in running at std 38psi and mapped it no problem (438lb/ft) which he detuned due to pinking as my CR was way too high (somewhere around 12:1 at the time).
but I'm running a bigger lump now with the same stock regulator and pump.

That sounds like good news! I have the original regulator but a Bosch 044 high flow fuel pump and 440cc/min injectors so it should be fine. The fuel pump wasn't vital, but my old one was making some funny noises and the new one I managed to get for £95 from a Bosch export company off Ebay so it felt rude not to! I know Dave runs an aftermarket regulator but he runs standard injectors I believe. Thats a bloody high CR for a 500, was it an HC? I've stuck an EGT sensor on exhaust port 5 (hottest one) so if there is any sign of detonation, the Emerald can add fuel to compensate and cool the cylinder whilst backing off the ign to make sure nothing bad happens. This runs with a Dynojet wideband lambda setup which will run in adaptive mode on the ECU so it can continuously adjust the fuel map to a target AFR table. Once this is all dialled in it should be nice and safe

I can't wait to get it running though so I can join you guys out on the track. I've got it just in time for winter though so not sure if anyone will be doing track days for a while?

Yep it was an HC engine, although CR was increased due to having the heads skimmed after a gasket failure in february (Before the SC was fitted).
Dave is running Bosch Green Giants on his chimp now, I believe he started out with std injectors tho. I need to fit an egt sensor as it's a useful guage to have, along with the AFR guage i am already running which has proved its worth already.
I am still running the 14CUX and dizzy, so couldn't dial out the pinking on the old bottom end without retarding the ignition. Don't have the problem with the new bottom end, but i will fit an Omex 160 or 200 to piggy back the 14CUX next year. the old ecu with AFM does a pretty good job of fuel mapping so no reason to get rid of, especially as the AFM (larger Bosch one) restriction is not an issue with FI.
