Anyone bothered to keep their money in?

i know we not talking about the biggest risk but for minimal returns available is it really worth it. i've withdrawn all mine this year and lost nothing luckily. surely 7k's worth of allowance invested in april must have almost 1/2 by now.

anybody disagree with getting out early if you have the chance? i understand if you're too late and your 7k has halfed that you're better off leaving until it recovers if you don't need the money.

due to the size of the investment surely any broker/adviser would struggle to invest with confidence as the markets are so unstable and the general format is to effectively spead bet with small amounts over a wide selection of industries.

Anyone have an influence with theirs or is it the norm just to get a detailed portfolio a few times a year? is it dependent on the size of the company to how much feedback you get? i went to a small business with some very high net worth clients thinking i would get regular advise. i've never received a call from them in two years apart from when i asked for my money to be sent back and had a call asking why i did it.

i have over £20k in my current account for no other reason than i've haven't been offered any advise.

errr...I presume you mean a stocks n shares ISA....Ive only got a cash ISA that I use just like a tax free savings account really, max it out every year...an easy, safe (depends on the bank and how much of course!) option - 6% taxx free is like 10% before tax to me so just to keep a few months salary in for emergency is fine

never bothered with a stocks n shares one myself.

Yes kept my money in and it is painful, FTSE down around 3,800 at the moment.

Can't you just sell the shares and hold cash within the ISA??

This is always the dilemna. Just because prices have gone down does not mean they will go up. If we are going into/already in this recession then is that priced in now and if so is now a buying opportunity. Or will prices continue going down steadily from here? We seem to have got down to a point now and not really made any more downward progress. But what do I know?
